We stock over 6000+ varieties/species of herbaceous perennials from good old cottage favourites to the distinctly rare and unusual.
In order to carry this range does mean that stocks of each variety / species are
limited and the range is constantly changing throughout the year ~ so please
check in advance if you are making a longish journey for specific plants. Always on the lookout for something new our herbaceous specialist and propagator, Kevin, unearths ('scuse the pun) some real treasures, many unique to this nursery. His enthusiasm and quest for knowledge seem to have no bounds.
- If you require information or availability for any of the plants listed,
please contact us ~ numbers can be found on the homepage.
- A high percentage of plants listed are available from stock - we cannot possibly maintain stocks of all plants listed throughout the year. The best choice from late February into Spring.
- Some of our rare, unusual or difficult to find perennials are available in very limited numbers - many are difficult to propagate or take years to grow to a saleable size. Please do not request these in numbers - we try to make them available, as fairly as possible, to gardeners who have the experience and knowledge to keep them growing.
- Perennials are grown in 1.4lt square-round pots - larger growing plants in 3-4lt pots - smaller growing or developing plants in 9-11cm. All plants carry a descriptive label.
- The majority of our perennials are propagated and grown on the nursery
- those with PBR are sourced from authorised propagators
- We strive to ensure that all plants are correctly named - many National Collection holders and very experienced plants-people cast an eye over our stocks. We welcome their input of knowledge to ensure that we achieve our aims - but even the experts fail to agree on naming at times!
- We are always keen to expand our range. If you have interesting or unusual perennials that we are not listing or find some variants or seedlings of merit growing in your garden please get in touch (contact Kevin on the e-mail above). Perhaps we can do a bit of
swopping!
- A very wide selection of the plants listed are available from our large
retail display beds - very rare perennials on request only. We offer a
Mail Order service for those unable to visit us. Very large orders may be delivered by our own transport.
